Göteborgs Nya Bryggeri arose in the world of thought as early as May 9, 2001. That was the day when it was decided in Denmark that Pripps in Gothenburg would go to the grave. A 173-year-old brewing tradition in the city would be lost to history. Johan Albrecht Pripp would have been as appalled as the employees were at the fine brewery if he had lived.

The dismissed employees started the association Prippklubben in 2002. It was to meet and keep in touch when most got jobs at other companies. Three years later, the association produced its own beer which was enjoyed with great joy at the meetings.

We let the brewery plans lie and mature in our minds for a long time and well. One could say that it is well-stocked ideas that have now taken their physical form. For several years, the brewery group met regularly and discussed. We studied the market, trends and did a solid analysis that resulted in the living document "Business plan Göteborgs Nya Bryggeri".

In April 2008, Prippklubben formed the support association PrippInvest. The association's purpose was to support Prippklubben in terms of the brewery plans and to invest the membership fees in the brewery. The association's president Bill Larsson accepted the task with a serious attitude and determined attitude.

Göteborgs Nya Bryggeri AB was founded in September 2008 by Nina and Marc Rothausen, Martin Lundh, Peter Thulin and Johan Nydewall. All the founders once worked at Pripps. With Christian Baarlid as chairman, the group worked tirelessly to find investors and to strengthen the project's brand.

In 2012, the partner and owner of Grebbestad Brewery, Ola Jonsson, became interested in the plans for Göteborgs Nya Bryggeri. After some discussions and planning in 2013, everything suddenly happened very quickly when we decided to realize the project together. In 2014, the brewery premises were renovated and installation work on the new brewery began. Since 2015, we are once again brewing beer on JA Pripps Gata.

The support association has become a steadily growing ambassador association which is now called Göteborgs Ölinvest. The influx of new members picked up speed when the brewery started and Ölinvest now has over 3250 members.

With a strong story in the bag and a strong entrepreneurial spirit, we now ensure that Göteborgs Nya Bryggeri flourishes and becomes a successful company.
